The Wild, Wild, West 

If you can remember the old westerns, rodeos and gunslingers, the entire family will certainly enjoy the activities, shows at the 1800's style Rawhide Western Town and Steakhouse. Adults will not want to miss the 1800's style Golden Belle Saloon. The visit is not complete until you or the kids take advantage of a burro ride, stagecoach, or train ride. The mighty and brave might want to tackle the mechanical bull. You will certainly experience a day of what it was like to live in the Wild, Wild, West. 

Once the Gold Rush began, so did the need for various businesses, such as express mail. Many of us today think of companies like Fed Ex, UPS, and others for overnight, or express deliveries. Even though we often equate Wells Fargo with banks, Wells Fargo began its express deliveries in the 1800's by stagecoach. Messages were often sent by telegraph during that time period as well. The Wells Fargo Museum has interactive telegraph exhibits as well as an authentic Wells Fargo Station.

 Native American History 

Native Americans are very much a part of our history, including the history of Arizona. The Heard Museum is one of the favorite places to visit while in Phoenix. Not only are there interactive exhibits, but there are interactive learning sessions where you can create items such as Apache burden baskets and Yaqui paper flowers.

 Future Firefighters

Whether you have future firefighters with you, or that you simply enjoy learning about how things were done many years ago, the Hall of Flame is definitely a favorite, fun thing to do in Phoenix, among those who are interested in the history of firefighting.

 Unique Amusement Park 

Taking a step back in time does not always mean museums, or getting your picture taken in Victorian clothing. One of the places that all kids want to go to is the local amusement park. Phoenix definitely has something that is totally different from places like Disneyland. You kids can have a blast with an amusement park that is full of activities, antique rides from yesteryear. The Enchanted Island should definitely be on your list of fun things to do in Phoenix, Arizona in May.
